The worked 10 bbl batch at 2 lb/bbl loses 20 gal, 6.5% of the batch. At 4 lb/bbl it loses 40 gal, 12.9% -- exactly double, 2.58 half barrels of the most expensive beer in the brewery.

hops = rate x barrels (31 gal); absorbed = hops x gal per lb; packages lost = absorbed / package size.

Pellets retain roughly 0.5 to 1.5 gal per lb. The brewery's own measured absorption governs.
