Ladder Pipe Reach
Aerial geometry combined with master-stream forward reach.
Example
You enter
- Set angle (degrees) 70
- Extension (ft) 100
- Nozzle type smooth_bore_1_75
- Nozzle pressure (psi) 80
You get
- Horizontal ladder reach 34.2 ft
- Vertical ladder reach 94.0 ft
- Stream reach 90 ft
- Horizontal stream (ft) 77.94
- Total horizontal reach 112.1 ft
Checked against published worked examples from: IFSTA Pumping Apparatus / ladder-pipe practice.
Details, formula, and sources
Formula or tableEffective reach = aerial-tip horizontal projection + master-stream reach x cos 30 deg (stream assumed to leave about 30 deg below horizontal). Combines aerial-ladder geometry with NFPA 1965 nozzle reach.
