One 12 kW range demands 8 kW (not 12), so 33.3 A at 240 V; a 16 kW range adds 5% per kW over 12 (20%) to 9.6 kW / 40 A. Multiple equal-rated ranges read Column C directly. Notes 2-4 (the Columns A/B paths and unequal-rating averaging) and the AHJ govern the other cases.

demand_kw = ColumnC(num_ranges) x (1 + increase); increase = 0.05 x round(nameplate_kw - 12) for ranges over 12 kW, else 0 (Note 1 counts a kW 'or major fraction thereof' -- round-half-up, not ceil); demand_a = demand_kw x 1000 / supply_v. Column C: 1->8, 2->11, 3->14, 4->17, 5->20 kW.

NEC is free to read at nfpa.org/freeaccess. This is the common equal-rating Column C path with the Note 1 over-12 kW increase; Notes 2-4 (Columns A/B and unequal-rating averaging) govern the other cases.

Estimate. AHJ and licensed electrician govern. Verify against the NEC edition adopted in your jurisdiction.
